Conference Advisory: Final Stretch

 

Dear Conference Participants,

We are now on the final stretch of preparations for the 30th AMIC Annual Conference. To help ensure everyone’s safety and the success of the event, kindly take note of the following reminders:

  1. The venue of the conference is on the 7th floor of the Art-Communication Building located within the campus of the Communication University of China (CUC), 1 Dingfuzhuang E St., Chaoyang District, Beijing.
  2. The conference program is posted on the microsite via this link: https://sites.google.com/amic.asia/30thamicannualconference/program?authuser=0
  3. Formal attire or national dress is recommended during the opening and closing ceremonies. Business, smart casual, or national dress is recommended during the conference sessions.
  4. For taxi or ride-hailing services, please refer to the info-graphics below. Download the necessary apps to facilitate access to these services.
  1. Smoking or vaping is prohibited inside the conference venue. There are designated areas within the campus where smoking or vaping is allowed.
  2. Drinking water is available within the conference venue. Paper cups will be provided.
  3. Food restrictions and preferences indicated in the registration forms were considered in the preparation of meals to be served during the conference.
  4. While the World Health Organization has declared that the mpox outbreak is a “public health emergency of international concern” (WHO, August 14, 2024), China “will monitor people and goods entering the country for mpoxfor the next six months” and that “Personnel from countries with monkeypox outbreaks who have been in contact with monkeypox cases or display symptoms … should take the initiative to declare themselves to Customs.” (Reuters, August 16, 2024)
  5. As we go around Beijing and nearby areas, let us respect local customs and traditions. Avoid discussing sensitive topics such as politics or religion.
  6. Try to learn a few basic Mandarin phrases to enhance your interaction with the locals.
  7. Download translation apps to facilitate communication with those who do not speak English. Use the following validated translations of CUC and hotels when traveling in taxis from anywhere to CUC or your designated hotel:
