We live in a time of accelerated technological changes in our media. While the academic institutions are aware of the changing media environment, there is a growing, and possibly inevitable, time lag before course content and equipment match the changes in industry. This raises the spectre of obsolescence and irrelevance, of antiquated facilities, outmoded faculties and, above all, outdated curricula. This danger can only be averted through continuing dialogue and timely correctives. The Amic Seminar on "Communication Education and the Needs of the Media" held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, went some way towards providing this. This book is a collection of the papers presented at the seminar.
